Kirk was born in Bulawayo, Rhodesia and was raised in Grahamstown, South Africa.
On completion of school he spent 4 years travelling in Israel, Egypt, Turkey ,UK, Scotland, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.
He finally settled in Cape Town and started working in the film industry where he found his niche in the art department, and over the past 24 years has worked on 34 features and 150 commercials.
After rising through the ranks, he worked as an art director on a range of shows including: Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, The Crown, Warrior, Breath, The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society, The Power & The Burning Girls.
Recent projects include The Power (Amazon) as Senior Art Director and The Burning Girls (Paramount) as Supervising Art Director.
Kirk travels on a UK passport and has worked in South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Dubai and Morocco.
He has excellent organisational and communication skills, the ability to liaise and develop solid relationships with clients and is able to demonstrate coherent presentation skills working to stringent deadlines and budgets.
Kirk is also the co-owner of a successful Cape Town Prop House, Prop Art Rentals, where he is responsible for one of South Africa’s largest privately owned cleared art for film portfolios.
Besides Film his other passions include travel, surfing, art, photography and music.
